The issue has been fixed, according to a tweet from McCarran worldwide Airport, but there are long lines at Southwest’s check-in counters.
The police department published a pictured of the crowded area on Twitter, adding: ‘Southwest Airlines is manual processing passengers and issuing hand-written tickets’.
Michelle Agnew with Southwest Airlines told WAVY.com that their teams are working diligently to enhance the performance their technology and that airport-based staff are working with customers on their individual itineraries.
The company said that as of 10 a.m. Sunday, fewer than 100 of the 3,600 flights set to operate on Sunday had been affected by short delays. In other cities, passengers took to Twitter to vent their frustrations that flights departed while they waited to check-in.
Southwest’s technical difficulties come just three months after a glitch at United Airlines grounded 4,900 scheduled flights.
