Passengers flying through Denver International Airport can check their flight status here.
In a video posted on Thursday night, Southwest Chief Communication Officer Linda Rutherford said the the airline was “thinning our schedule to reduce flights for remainder of the evening”.
Southwest said that “most systems” recovered and were functioning by Thursday morning. The outage was being blamed for about 700 canceled flights across the country. Flexible rebooking accommodation will be available to Customers once our systems are fully functional. Flights were grounded by the outage.
On Wednesday southwest airlines faced a major computer disaster which carrier said that it was major “Outage”.
Southwest’s website was also down, turning up what the airline is calling a “waiting room” page where visitors weren’t able to book flights.
The airline said Thursday morning that most of its systems were back online. Early Thursday, the airline canceled more than 220 flights as it tried to get back on track. “We know we disappointed customers today and we’re really, really sorry about that”.
“We’ve identified the cause as a technology breakdown in our network in which the redundant systems that are in place did not kick in as they should”.
Anger and frustration continued Thursday at Lindbergh Field as Southwest Airlines struggled with technical problems.

Computer problems at Southwest Airlines slowed down flights and jammed up its reservations website nationwide on Wednesday afternoon, including in St. Louis. In many of Southwest’s busiest airports, lines were more than 200 people long at ticket counters and some people complained of being on hold on the telephone for more than three hours. The airline was established in 1967 by Herb Kelleher[4] and adopted its current name (Southwest Airlines) in 1971.[5] The airline has almost 46,000 employees as of December 2014 and operates more than 3,800 flights per day.[6][7] As of 2014, it carried the most domestic passengers of any US airline.[8] As of June 2016, Southwest Airlines has scheduled services to 97 destinations in 40 states, Puerto Rico, and overseas.
