Anglers are having success using hard baits and soft baits.

John Cox caught most of his fish on a topwater frog skipped under the trees, and that would surely be one option on most of the creeks named here, avoiding the many snags below water. Anglers are picking up a fish or two and with the windy conditions subsiding we should see more of an effort this week. And this week and upcoming weekend looks to finally be a good mix of seasonable weather, light winds and slight seas, although that forecast can change from one hour to the next, so if heading out, make sure to check the weather from more than one source. The largemouth measured 23 inches long with a girth of 22.5 inches. Boats catching 6-12 bass per trip flipping outer grass and on wild shiners. Restricted to fly-fishing with barbless hooks. A majority of boat anglers caught very few trout. Striped Bass: Fair. The canal area still is the most active part of the lake. With plenty of stocked, holdover and native trout, or possibly a few planted Chinook salmon still lurking within the city limits of town, this is great urban fishery. Fishing through the quality waters section was good using dead chickens, parachute Adams, small bead-head, pheasant tail nymphs, foam wing emergers, scintillas, crystal flash midges.

HOSMER LAKE: Anglers report fair fishing for trout in the morning and evening. Catch and release for all species.

LAKE SIMTUSTUS: Open year-round. Striped Bass: Good. The area near the dam continues to have concentrations of fish.

LAKE YUCATAN: The water is rising slowly and should start falling next week.

An assortment of lures like Carolina and Texas rigged plastics and crankbaits will take largemouth and hybrid/striped bass from around the dock lights.

ODELL LAKE: Anglers report fair fishing in the morning for kokanee. All tributaries to Odell Lake are closed to fishing.

PAULINA LAKE: Anglers report fair fishing for trout and kokanee.

It was nice getting a few days with cooler temperatures, but that was then and this is now, so with projected temperatures to be back in the mid 90’s it’s definitely time again to hide out during the heat of the day. Perch fishing has picked up early this year. Worms, small spinner flies, and small hair jigs are catching fish.

Anglers are doing best fishing rainbow colored power bait off the lake bottom.

Officers seized 17 fish along with an iron bar and a golf club.

SOUTH TWIN LAKE: Anglers report fair fishing for trout.

North Sauty, perhaps the single most famous and productive bay on the lake, becomes a shallow delta-type creek north of 431, and the channels here are worth fishing, certainly in spring if not at present. Open to fishing all year.
