Southwest says technology outage fixed but more flights cut
– Southwest Airlines passengers are still dealing with delays and cancelations Thursday, because of a major computer glitch that crashed the airline’s system Wednesday.

Her husband joined dozens of other Southwest Airlines passengers in line after their flights were delayed or canceled at Mitchell International Airport.
One main reason for at least four cancellations is due to the planes not arriving last night. As of 10:15 a.m. Thursday, another 300 flights had been canceled nationwide.
“I want to start off by once again apologizing to our customers and reiterating that your experience throughout the past 24 hours is not the service you should expect from Southwest Airlines”, Rutherford said.
The technical issues led to the cancellation of almost 700 flights and the delay of hundreds, the airline said in a statement Wednesday.
“We are now managing flight delays across our system, with a temporary ground stop in place for those flights that have not left the gate”, Hawkins said in a statement.
Employees had to work around issues with primary systems and used back-up procedures to get customers and their checked luggage to their intended destinations, the airline said.
“As you can see we have tablets to keep the time and pass it”, she said.
More than 200 Southwest Airlines flights have been canceled already Thursday in the wake of a massive system outage that grounded hundreds of flights across the country, the airline said.
The Dallas-based carrier had multiple technology systems go down during a computer outage on Wednesday afternoon.
The problem affected Southwest Airlines.
Mary Burek’s flight through Chicago was one of them.
