Alexis Sanchez scored either side of Mesut Ozil’s goal as Arsenal tore into Manchester United in a breathless start to Sunday’s Premier League clash.

And when asked about that on Thursday with a view to the clash with Arsenal, who played their Champions League game this week a day earlier than United, Van Gaal said: “The solution is recovery – recovery, recovery, recovery”.

Sanchez opened the scoring with an impudent backheel against United and, by the time he clattered his second into the top corner, Arsenal were 3-0 to the good after 19 minutes.
