Sparky: Manchester United will soon click into gear
Van Gaal, who has a contract at Manchester United until 2017, left Wednesday’s news conference after four minutes and 58 seconds, answering just three questions.

Kanchelskis – who won two league titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup at Old Trafford – has laid the blame firmly at Van Gaal’s door, and suggested the United squad lacks leaders. United are on a six-match winless run in all competitions and were booed off the pitch at Old Trafford following a 2-1 defeat against Norwich City on 19 December.
“I held meetings with the players with my members of staff, I hold a Christmas lunch, I did a speech and I feel the warmth and support of everybody in Carrington, this AON training complex”. That’s what I am wondering.
“I personally have a huge respect for Louis van Gaal and I think what is going on there is disrespectful”. Or have been sacked.
“(I have read) my (former) colleague was here already”, Van Gaal said, referencing reports Jose Mourinho will replace him. Or with my grandchildren?
But former winger Kanchelskis insists Van Gaal doesn’t understand English football, and isn’t a Man United coach. Or my friends? What do you think?
“Instead of asking for an apology from the media over rumours – which started on Twitter, not in the papers – that you had been sacked on Tuesday, how about apologising for your dreary football, Louis?”
The popular ex-Russia global proclaimed the Dutchman does not understand the Premier League, but would give LvG until the end of the season to prove his worth to the Red Devils. He went on to accuse him of being either “very, very silly” or “absolutely stupid”, before saying, “I am sorry son, you are daft”. But I can see when I say something that you use my words in your context.
“One month ago we were first in the Premier League”.
“I only say now I am focussed on Stoke City, I help my players”, he said.
With that, he said, “I wish you a Merry Christmas and maybe also a Happy New Year when I see you”.
“But thanks for the mince pies and glass of wine, anyway”.
English media have speculated since last Thursday that Manchester United are planning to appoint Mourinho as their next manager.

Like Van Gaal, Rooney has received plenty of criticism this season after netting only twice in the Premier League.
