Unfortunately for Kia, the fresh look of the Sportage is anything but.
The 2017 Sportage will come with three trim levels-LX, EX, and SX Turbo-making it easy to choose the right crossover for your needs. Its new dual-level dash and redesigned console are both angled towards the driver while the SX Turbo boasts a flat-bottom, heated and leather-wrapped sport steering wheel with shift paddles, piano black accents and aluminum pedals. The cabin of the Sportage as a result is more spacious.
The 2017 Sportage is fitted with a new lineup of audio/infotainment systems. On the sound front, the standard 160-watt audio system can be upgraded to a 320-watt Harman Kardon premium alternative.
Engine options are either a 2.4L four-cylinder generating 181hp and 175lb-ft of torque or a 2.0L turbo unit that cranks the output to 241hp and 260lb-ft torque.
Standard equipment for the 2017 Kia Sportage LX includes a five-inch touchscreen that incorporates Bluetooth and a backup camera, while the EX model has a 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capability. All three trims can be had in front-drive or with optional AWD that has a 50/50 locking differential and unique lower front fascia that allows for a steeper off-road approach angle.
The new Sportage certainly displays a more aggressive face than its predecessor, with a version of Kia’s corporate “tiger nose” grille flanked by high-mounted triangular headlights.
As is customary these days, the Sportage gains a plethora of active and passive safety features, including automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, a lane-departure warning system, and rear cross-traffic alert.
Bruce Benedict The 2017 Sportage was created to juxtapose smooth curves and sharp creases, according to Kia’s top designers.

Amidst the glitz and glamour in Los Angeles this week, Kia debut a model that likely won’t be joining the A-listers on the walk of fame for this year’s L.A. Auto Show.
