“The success of the BMW i8 speaks for itself”, said Ian Robertson, BMW AG Board Member for Sales and Marketing. Total combined output is 326 hp and 369 lb-ft, enough to rocket the BMW 740e to 62 miles per hour in 5.7 seconds with rear-wheel drive and 5.5 seconds for the xDrive model.
Inside the special-edition BMW i8, there will be a red double-stitching, and high-grade carbon fibre with ceramic to provide indications that of an exceptional sporting character. Production of the i8 Protonic Red Edition will begin this July, although the scheme is now only slated for the European market. BMW sold 5,400 in 2015 alone, the new Protonic Red Edition is a celebratory model of sorts!
BMW W-spoke 470 light-alloy wheels that come in a fetching “Orbit Grey” metallic with the hubs painted in aluminium matt are also unique to the model. In addition to the brilliant red paint, the i8 Protonic Red Edition also gains red contrast stitching for its upholstery, carbon-fiber trim, i8 embossed headrests, doorsill plates, carbon-fiber door handles, and grey seat belts. Among the distinctions amassed by the BMW i8 are an International Engine of the Year award for both its TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder engine and overall hybrid drivetrain.
BMW i8, that made its global premiere in 2013, was recently crowned the world’s highest-selling hybrid sports auto.

The i8 Protonic Red is (as you’d expect) unchanged mechanically, so it manages a 0-62mph time of 4.4 seconds yet emits just 59g/km and claims 113mpg combined.
