Queen Elizabeth is due to appear in her 90th birthday celebration, today on Sunday, featuring some of the leading stars of show business and nearly 1,000 horses.

The four-day event, held on the grounds of Windsor Castle, will also host celebrations for the Queen’s 90th birthday.

“I am delighted that we have succeeded in bringing together hundreds of members of the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and other long-standing overseas friends to mark this special birthday”, Charles wrote.

Of course, all of the royals were present to celebrate, including daughter, Princess Anne, and her grandsons Harry and William, who was accompanied by wife Catherine.

The Royal Windsor Horse Show was also rife with well-known performers including “You’re Beautiful” singer James Blunt, Helen Mirren, Katherine Jenkins from “Dancing With the Stars”.

In its unusual combination of regimental marching, gun salutes, pop, historical clips outlining an ABC of the Queen’s life history, and Shetland ponies dashing to actor Imelda Staunton’s singing “Sing Sing Sing Sing”, the show was a unique homage.

In addition to musical performances, the 6,000 spectators enjoyed displays of horsemanship from around the world, including riders from countries including Oman, Chile, Canada and Azerbaijan.

Further events will take place around her official birthday on June 11, including a street party for 10,000 guests close to Buckingham Palace.

The Queen’s 90th Birthday Celebration airs on Sunday at 8.35pm on ITV.

Theatrical lighting and video projection all featured in the show which depicted the story of the Queens life, from birth, marriage and her coronation.

Appropriately, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, 94, arrived in the horse-drawn Scottish state carriage.

With her arms outstretched and a beaming smile, the future Queen stands alongside George VI on the edge of an outdoor swimming pool, ready to take a dip.
