The James Bond films have never shied away from product placement – Sean Connery swapped Martinis for Red Stripe in Dr. No while Heineken paid $45 million for 007 to drink their beer in Skyfall. We’ll know for sure when Spectre hits theatres on November 6th. Elsewhere across Europe major records were broken in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway, where the movie outperformed its predecessor by roughly 30 percent.

Released in six territories so far, Spectre, which stars Daniel Craig, Lea Seydoux, Christophe Waltz, has taken in £52m and has yet to release in the USA, France, Russia, and China.

Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that “Spectre” has shattered box office records in almost every market in which it has been released, led by a historic performance in the UK.

The film is also the widest release ever in Britain, playing on 2,500 screens across the country.

The film has also set a new IMAX record, taking the highest per-location average in the company’s history with £68,000 in 47 IMAX locations.

The box office king this week is the new James Bond movie, “Spectre”, which is hardly a surprise because both fans and critics are raving about the movie.

Its United Kingdom launch set a new record for movies released on a Monday – as opposed to a Friday – taking more than £41m in its first week. Including previews, it has grossed $3.9 million to date.

According to industry analysts, the film is projected to make $85 million to $90 million for its North America opening this weekend.
