Spectre Now Has a Guinness Record For The Largest Film Detonation
Thomas Schatz, media professor at the University of Texas at Austin, notes that the “reboot” method, as seen in the “Terminator” and “Batman” film series, has already been done by those behind Bond.

Despite raking in an impressive $200 million globally in its opening weekend, Spectre hasn’t quite surpassed its predecessor Skyfall. She may not be a twenty-something, but her brief appearance as the courageous widow of an assassin gives Bond his greatest romantic scene and leaves us wanting much more.
Everyone obviously loves “Casino Royale” and “Skyfall” and consider them among the elite entries in the Bond canon, but few deny the previous three attempts to subvert the franchise and turn everyone’s favorite secret agent into something other than what we saw in the previous 20 films.
However, despite clocking in at only five minutes longer than the superior Skyfall, it feels like it drags on longer than Gone With The Wind. The film cost around US$100 million to make. However, when asked if Craig is still legally bound to do another movie as James Bond, he confirmed “We don’t have a contract”. These actions result in Bond being suspended and having to work-with the help of Moneypenny (Naomie Harris), Q (Ben Whishaw), and Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux)-behind MI6’s back in order to discover more about the shadowy “Spectre” organization. Sadly, director Sam Mendes has foregone this altogether, as Bond hardly breaks a sweat all film.
The most he ever got – topping Golden Eye, Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough – was £10.9M ($16.5M) for Die Another Day, according to fansite M16 Community.
“The James Bond movies are synonymous with pushing cinematic boundaries”, Guinness editor-in-chief Craig Glenday said in a news release. However, since Bond did not ultimately kill Oberhauser, he may still come after Bond one last time in Bond 25. The tracking shot – courtesy of cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema – is fluidly shot, leading Bond (Daniel Craig) to an exciting helicopter ride.

What’s impressive is that a lot of these gadgets aren’t just science fiction anymore, and most of the time the gear that Bond uses is actually inspired by real science and devices, even if they’re used in unbelievable ways.
