An ambulance has rolled after a speeding auto crashed into the emergency vehicle on a major Auckland suburban street this morning.
The ambulance, which had been on the way back to the station after completing an early-morning job, was left rolled on to its side after the crash.
St John northern communications manager Robbie Walker said there were two paramedics travelling in the ambulance at the time of the accident.
No one in the ambulance was hurt, but the driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital after being cut free from the wreckage.
Farac said damage to the ambulance was “significant”.
Video footage shows the ambulance on its side and the front of a silver vehicle smashed in. Mt Albert Rd from Hillsborough Road through to Buckley Road is expected to be closed until 7am.
Police will conduct a scene examination this morning.
