France Country Manager of Airbnb Nicolas Ferrary said, “Our travelers are always on the lookout for original experiences and what could be more unique for Halloween than spending a night among the bones and ghosts below Paris”. Guests will also get a private concert and a “a dazzling culinary experience” in the mass tomb.
“Before bedtime, a storyteller will have you spellbound with fascinating tales from the catacombs, guaranteed to produce nightmares”.
Aound six million people are buried in the Paris Catacombs and the skeletons of many of them remain there to this day, tightly packed and stacked high.
Among the countless bones lined up in the 1.2-mile tunnels open to the public – a tiny proportion of the total – are quotes on mortality.
Elsewhere, visitors are advised: “Think in the morning that you might not survive until the evening, and in the evening that you might survive until the morning”. Situated 20 metres below the city’s sewer network and metro lines, the Catacombs have become a popular tourist destination, attracting 500,000 visitors every year, along with film crews and fashion shoots.
