Spieth one clear in Atlanta
I know that it’s going to be a lot of change between the three of us, and I just got to go out and try and play the best I can tomorrow. So it’s fine with me.

So, say Stenson wins the tournament Sunday and picks up a little extra jack after his first victory.
Get out your calculator.
Former bosses for Mack Breed, who was an assistant coach at John Jay High in San Antonio, told a governing board they believe he ordered at least one player to retaliate against referee Robert Watts during a game on September 4. And he’s not the only with that chance.
Stenson had another ordinary day by his standards with his ball-striking, though he held it together for a 72.
After 188 of 189 rounds of this PGA Tour season and enough FedEx Cup scenarios to make your whiteboard bleed, the entire campaign could be wrapped up into one neat, tidy bow if Spieth finishes off this tournament the way he played on Saturday.
“We’re still at the races”, Stenson said.
Spieth was five shots behind in 2013 as a 20-year-old rookie, and he made a late push on Sunday to tie for second, though Stenson’s victory was never really in question.
Stenson, one of the best ball strikers in golf, stuck to his strategy of hitting three-wood off the tee instead of driver, sacrificing distance for accuracy in finding fairways. Spieth narrowly cleared the water to the lay-up zone on the par-five ninth.
“Today was a hard day, it was a hard golf course for sure”, Stenson said. While Day is tied for tenth place, eight behind, Spieth is in a strong position to win both the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup.
Rickie Fowler’s three-under 67, that lifted him to a tie for third with Paul Casey on four under, was the lowest anyone managed on Saturday.
For McIlroy to win the FedEx Cup he must win the Tour Championship and get help.
“It was huge”, Spieth said about the par saves.
Perhaps the great Seve Ballesteros and Phil Mickelson are his only equals in this department of golfers we have seen over the last 30 years. Well, he needs the win to clinch Player of the Year, and if he doesn’t, there’s always the pizza and beer that could sway a voter or two away from the resurgent Day. “You obviously need a bit of luck, but luck comes from believing luck will come”. He felt flat, wasn’t sharp off the tee or into the greens, and shot a 71.
According to form, Stenson wavered on the back nine Saturday.
“It sets up well for solid iron play, and I seem to bring that”, Stenson said. He took a risk going through the tree to 6 feet for par, and then rolled in a 20-foot par putt for a bunker save on the par-3 sixth.
“This time you can stay patient, it’s just like a major championship”.
“I would feel much better if I didn’t just do that on 18″, McIlroy said.

While the rest of us can argue over whether the FedEx Cup should be elevated in status to something near the majors – and for the record, it shouldn’t – that won’t stop Spieth from experiencing some similar feelings going into the final round.
