India’s leading golfer Anirban Lahiri went through a good opening round of three-under 69 as he finished tied 10th in his Hero World Challenge debut at the Albany Golf Course here. The rest of 2015 consisted of traveling around the country, winning tournaments and making appearances.
What a start we have had for the second edition of the Hero World Challenge.
Spieth’s second round score was matched by fellow leader Bill Haas and they were joined on 11 under par by fellow American Jimmy Walker who shot a 67 in Albany.
Spieth, 22, was in top form as he got an ace on the second hole much to the delight of the spectators and Lahiri gave him a high five. Rarely has this holiday event with an 18-man field featured so many players near the lead.
“Certainly when we’re on the golf course I’m definitely up there”.
He had to work hard just to keep pace on a calm, muggy afternoon is the islands, where the wind wasn’t strong enough to blow out a match and it showed in the scoring.
Patrick Reed (65), Chris Kirk (65) and Bubba Watson (67) were one shot behind.
Adam Scott had a round of two under to be seven under for the tournament in a tie for 10th. “Other than that, I played some really, really nice golf”, Casey said after the day’s play.
Spieth shot up the leaderboard with an eagle on the par-5 11th hole from about 30 feet.
Spieth could have taken sole leadership of the competition had it not been for bogies on the third and fifth holes, but he recovered with a further five birdies to ensure a share of the lead.
