Spoilers* WWE SmackDown Taping Results – 1/7/2016 (USA Network Debut Show)

01/07/2016:John Cena came out and issued a challenge to Alberto Del Rio for the USA title, coming off the finish of their Raw match last week. Del Rio and refused to comply with Cena’s request.

Del Rio, however, stayed as he will compete in a non-title match against fellow a Latino, Kalisto. – As noted, last Thurs.’s New Yr’s Eve edition of WWE SmackDown, the ultimate show on Syfy, drew 1.658 million viewers, down from last Tues.’s Super SmackDown, which drew 2.264 million viewers, & down from the two. The difference at “SmackDown”, however, is that the WWE Divas Championship was on the line. They talk about Chris Jericho but are interrupted by Dolph Ziggler, then Goldust.

– The Miz is out for Miz TV but is interrupted by WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day. The babyface team got the win over the heel team of New Day & Miz. After post-match shenanigans, “The Showoff” came out on top.

WWE Divas Champion Charlotte had a “Monday Night Raw” rematch against Becky Lynch. While Lynch won the match at “Raw”, Charlotte won at “SmackDown” to retain the championship.

In the main event, Dean Ambrose defended his Intercontinental Championship against Kevin Owens.

There have also been rumors that Triple H and/or Brock Lesnar could enter the Rumble Match, possibly as a surprise entrant.
