Asked if Olympic athletes should express their political views, 52 percent of those from racial minorities answered no, with about a third taking the opposite view. And now, the country’s team announced that a laptop and some shirts were stolen during the fire drill.
The mosquito-borne virus has been linked to microcephaly, a birth defect among babies of pregnant mothers infected by Zika, and its discovery in Brazil a year ago led to concern over the Games, which are expected to attract some 500,000 visitors.
“I didn’t know if they were volunteers who had been given a shirt because they’d helped us”, she continued.
“Unfortunately, what we’ve seen throughout all this time is that there is a variation in the levels of contamination, but it fluctuates much more as a result of climactic conditions than due to any measures that may have been taken to try to remove this contamination”, said Spilki, one of Brazil’s most respected virologists.
South Korean swimmer Park Tae-hwan on Monday got in his first pre-Olympic training in Rio de Janeiro, where he’ll attempt to win a medal in his third straight Summer Games. “It doesn’t seem to have been what happened”. The shirts had only been delivered on the morning of the fire.
The evacuation lasted about 30 minutes and included about 100 team members, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.
“Obviously that is completely unacceptable that (a) the fire alarm was disabled and (b) that if it had to be, that we weren’t warned about that”, she said.

With the opening ceremony of the Rio Olympics underway in just days, a new study is showing that the waterways in and around the city are still dangerously polluted. The local organizing committee did not respond to multiple requests for comment, though it has previously said bacterial testing conducted by Rio state authorities has shown the aquatic venues to be within state guidelines.
