Sports broadcaster calls out colleague on air over ‘Space Jam’

San Francisco sportscaster Gary Radnich was clearly annoyed at his longtime colleague, Catherine Heenan, when she spilled some news that he was going to speak about.

“We should tell you LeBron James is going to star in ‘Space Jam, ‘” Radnich said at the end of his report.

Saturday, Radnich tried to explain.

Radnich begins giving his off-screen colleague, Catherine Heenan, an evil side-eye as he begins announcing Lebron James’ upcoming part in the film, when she interrupts.

Radnich’s mother is apparently a friend of Heenan, making the betrayal all the more personal for the sports anchor. He fumed, “I always stay in my lane”, noting that he doesn’t try to cover traffic or weather.

And as a cherry on top, Radnich had the ideal response to clearly getting mad over something so trivial: Saying he wasn’t actually mad at all and instead was just “playing”. Then Radnich sarcastically asked her for the update on Stephen Curry’s knee.

“She’s a good friend of my moms”.

Days later Radnich played the whole thing off as a joke in a Facebook post.

Heenan, it seems, didn’t pick up on the humor, writing on Twitter that “he was just trying to be amusing”.

Heenan responded to the incident and support from her followers on Twitter.
