Sports digest: Tim Tebow is ready to give baseball a shot

With professional football not working out, Tim Tebow is going to give baseball a try.

It’s been over a decade since Tebow, 28, has played baseball full time, which means a comeback would be no easy task.

Tebow’s 40-yard dash time is a reported 4.71 seconds, which translates to a 7.07 60-yard dash, the preferred measure for baseball scouts.

“This may sound like a publicity stunt, but nothing could be further from the truth”, said Brodie Van Wagenen, co-head of CAA Baseball, part of the sports agency CAA Sports, in the statement. “I’ve never seen him play”. “I think this is the ideal situation for Tim to showcase his skills in a game situation”. With his desire to hold a tryout for as many Major League Baseball teams willing to watch him catch, run, hit and throw. “I guarantee that because it’s Tim Tebow”. Who knows if that is true or not, but considering Tebow’s age, time away from the sport, the fact he was just claiming he could still play quarterback in the National Football League as recently as two weeks ago, and that he pretty much has a job sitting there for him with the SEC Network, it does come off as a bit of an oddity he would make such a decision.

Tebow hasn’t played baseball since high school. He didn’t play baseball as a senior, concentrating instead on football.

To prepare, he has been working with coaches on his hitting and fielding techniques.

Tim Tebow, who was a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback at Florida but was unable to hold an NFL job, is pursuing a career in Major League Baseball. Tebow hopes to be signed to a roster. “I’m sure he’ll have success in that field”, Decker said.

Tebow was offered a minor league contract by the Schaumburg Boomers, which is no real surprise.

“We’re looking for an athletic outfielder who can bring some leadership and competitiveness into the clubhouse”, said Boomers Manager Jamie Bennett. “Tebow brings all of those characteristics and then some”. “I think about what these guys do in out Dominican academy, in Delmarva, in Aberdeen, in the Gulf Coast League, in Frederick, Bowie, in Norfolk (referring to Baltimore’s minor league affiliates)”.

“He would be a great addition to the team, and we look forward to hearing from his agent in the near future”, Blue Crabs general manager Courtney Knichel said on the team’s website.
