Spotify Adds Concert Discovery Feature to iOS and Android App
In a short period of time, Spotify’s Discover Weekly feature has introduced users to new music recommendations, possibly enlightening them to artists they never knew and thus expanding their audible horizons. Similar to how Spotify suggests songs in its popular weekly playlists, the “Concerts” feature leverages data about users’ listening behavior, and will update its concert picks as that behavior evolves, the company explains.

This whole new feature finds concerts based on your location which can be changed if you are out of your hometown and will effectively show you nearby concerts where ever you are. And Songkick doesn’t only provide the artist tour dates in Concerts; it also powers the service that allows you to easily purchase tickets for shows you’d like to go to.
The move could impact rival services music fans now use to track upcoming events, like Songkick competitor Bandsintown, for example, which touts a few 19 million registered users.
Spotify has added a new feature to its app that aims to take its personalized music recommendations beyond the mobile screen.
The concerts feature is rolling out starting today as part of an update to both the iOS and Android Spotify apps, but there’s no word if it will be making an appearance on the web.

Based on your location and music taste, Spotify will surface live gigs that are happening nearby from your favorite artists (or artists it thinks you might like). To see if you have the feature in your own app, open the “Browse” tab on your phone and look for the “Concerts” option.
