Spotify Focuses On Kids More With Redesigned Category
While the Kids category itself is not new, Spotify’s tweaks mean they take more a focused approach to parents and their children, with a mixture of songs fitting for the playlist as well as activities that both the parents and the kids can engage in. Parents will hear a voice prompt between songs encouraging a conversation with their child based upon a particular subject.

The playlists also feature audio prompts with suggestions for brain-building activities for children.
There’s a number of celebrity voiceovers within the playlists including: Fantasia, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Wiz Khalifa, Tyler Perry, Juanes, Diego Torres, Frankie J, Laurie Berkner, Busy Philipps and Ashley Williams. The playlists run the gamut from “calming” to “family party”.
There are also playlists for specific moods or genres much like Spotify’s regular recommendations.
According to TechCrunch, the music-streaming service on Monday launched a newly designed Kids category, which includes “new playlists focused on vocabulary and language-development activities, as well as voiceover prompts in between songs that encourage parents to interact with their children while listening to music together”.

As part of Spotify’s new effort, the company is also now working with other organizations that would help in creating more playlists under its Kids & Family category. The company is also working with some organizations like Carnegie Hall, which has a “Recommend Lullaby” playlist.
