Spotify, Tinder Hookup For Music And Dating

Starting this week, the dating app will allow users to link their Spotify accounts to Tinder, where they can display and listen to their top tracks on the streaming service.

Dating app Tinder has teamed up with Spotify to add new music-related features. All users will be able to search through more than 30 million songs from Spotify’s library straight from the Tinder app until they find the song that speaks to them. Non-Spotify users will be able to preview others’ top songs; however, everyone-regardless if they have a Spotify account-will be able to post an “Anthem” on their profiles.

Every Tinder user can sample a bit more of the musical tastes of another Tinder user beyond their Anthem. But it would probably be better if it could match users automatically based on a certain percentage of shared music listening, rather than it merely serving as an additional metric upon which users can judge potential dates.

Tinder’s new integration with Spotify. “With or without a Spotify account, you can choose to add an Anthem to your profile and start swiping to see who shares your favorite songs and artists”. You’ll also be able to see which artists you have in common with that alluring person in the profile pic as you’re swiping through the lineup. Tinder is sponsoring new playlists on Spotify themed around Tinder phrases: “pre-swipe”, “discovery”, “match”, “love at first swipe” and “date night”.
