What is clear, is nothing will change in the short term. It gives me a sign that winter weather is all but over and spring is right around the corner.
1966 – The Uniform Time Act of 1966 establishes the system of uniform Daylight Saving Time throughout the United States.
March 19, 1918 – The Standard Time Act establishes time zones and daylight saving. However, most people will choose to “spring forward” their clocks before they go to bed on Saturday night. And, if we do not get enough sleep, then it can not fortify and build up its defenses to fight off those icky germs.
The first known use of DST was July 1, 1908, when the residents of Port Arthur, Ontario, switched their clocks ahead one hour, but the idea didn’t catch on until Germany introduced DST in 1916. “Installing smoke alarms with batteries that don’t need to be changed annually is one of the most affordable ways to protect your family”.
“Fast time”, “slow time”, daylight saving or standard. let’s pick one and then get on it and stay on it.
After each war, Congress rescinded the national laws but many people liked the extra hour of sunshine at the end of summer days, so some states and even cities observed daylight time while others kept standard time year-round.
British Summer Time was first enforced in 1916 during the First World War in a bid to save money during wartime.
And in this country and others, there are those who believe that life is less complicated without daylight-saving time, thus minimizing confusion and interruption associated with time, including changes to schedules and food preparations. In the U.S., Arizona and Hawaii opted out of participation in DST. And numerous commonly offered rationales for daylight saving time (yes, it’s “saving”, not “savings”) no longer hold true.
“Florida’s decision is another step in a long hard journey, but it’s a really important step”, Yates said.

Did you keep in mind to reset your clocks ahead one hour? However, from November to March, our mornings would be significantly darker. Daylight Saving Time begins today. That would save everyone, well … more time.
