Spring snow expected Friday, Saturday in NY area

While the first part of the day will be dry, building moisture from the southwest will move into the cold air in place across the region. Scattered valley rain could mix with a little snow and there could be a few isolated thunderstorms Saturday night. We’ll see gusts 10-20 miles per hour today, compared to yesterday’s 35 miles per hour gusts. While not officially in the advisory, the Northeast Kingdom will likely get a dusting to an inch worth of snow & sleet.

The good news (and there’s not much) is that the precipitation should hold off until later this afternoon.

For starters, it’s April.

The forecast by Environment Canada calls for wet weather through the weekend with the temperature rising into the double digits by the weekend.

Light rain and drizzle we’ve been seeing from time to time will continue for the rest of the afternoon as temperatures hover around the 40 degree mark. “Rainfall accumulation will likely range between 1-2”. The expected snowfall from Mount Holly is now in the 2-to-4 inch range, and meteorologists say plenty of factors will work against big accumulations for this event. If that game isn’t snowed or rained out, the temperature should be about 46 degrees when it starts.

If the system is faster and rain clears early, it might cut Richmond off from seeing any flakes.

Both Saturday and Sunday will be cold, temperatures well below average.

BOZEMAN: Low: 30, High: 39. Below-freezing temperatures are expected as far south as Oklahoma and northern Texas. Either way, readings will end up in the mid-30s by Saturday evening.

SaturdayMostly sunny, with a high near 42. Stay warm and make it a great day! So, the pattern has been one where we’ve been on the cold side of a lot of these frontal bands.

The timing of this storm will be Wednesday night into Thursday night. Would not be surprised if we had 70s in several spots on Wednesday.

Monday's snow could leave Boston with up to 4 inches
