Sprint auto driver James Campbell Jr. was killed Friday night in a crash at a Pennsylvania raceway.

Campbell was doing warm-up laps at Williams Grove Speedway in Pennsylvania when his auto collided with a wall on the half-mile clay track.
Spectator Cassie Reese says a auto going around the track began to spew smoke before flipping and catching on fire. Two other cars were involved in the accident.
The rest of the Friday program and the Saturday Series racing program slated for August 15 at Williams Grove were canceled “out of the utmost respect for the Campbell family as well as for all speedway employees, staff, management and emergency personnel as they all attempt to deal with the tragedy at hand”, the news release said.
Paramedics “made a barrier around the vehicle”, she explained, blocking the charred scene from view. It has been home to American Sprint auto racing since 1939.

The incident came just one day after Kevin Swindell suffered a significant injury during a qualifying heat at the Knoxville Nationals in Iowa, per Jeff Olson of USA Today.
