Sprint Launches New $60 Unlimited Plan With Data Optimization

In response, T-Mobile said it’s been working on its plans for nearly two years.

For customers who want service for more than one phone, the T-Mobile One plan is $50 per month for a second line and $20 per month for up to eight additional lines if autopaid. Sprint’s offering is cheaper for one to three lines, with the price of the two unlimited data plans equal for four users and then T-Mobile’s offering gaining the advantage beginning with five users.

“We continue to believe T-Mobile’s strategy has and will be the most effective in the industry”, wrote Pacific Securities analyst Michael Bowen in a Thursday note, adding that the changes could be most detrimental for AT&T and Verizon. Up to 10 additional lines will be priced at $30 a month. Indeed many customers will benefit, and those who won’t can keep their existing plans.

T-Mobile’s rate is $70 for one line and $120 for two lines; Sprint’s is $60 and $100 a month.

The plan will be launched on September 6 to current and new customers.

A T-Mobile spokesperson confirmed to the Daily Dot that all video on T-Mobile One plans will be at standard definition, regardless if a user has reached the 26GB data mark or not.

You can also add a tablet to your plan for $20 per month (or get a tablet-only plan for $70 per month), or add a wearable like a smartwatch for $5 per month (or $15 per month if your wearable is the only device on your plan). Business plans start at 25GB and go as high as 200GB, and can comprise as many as 25 lines. As a result, they may notice relatively slower speeds but only at specific times and places that may experience high network demand or congestion. Your data will be unlimited, but only at 480p and you’ll have to pay extra if you want that fixed. Tethering will be limited to only 2G speeds. Sprint is slashing the cost for its plan to $60 from $75 a month, giving users access to DVD quality streaming video. For those with 10GB or more, customers get unlimited talking and texting to Mexico and Canada, as well as free plan usage in Mexico without roaming charges, too.

Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure said in a statement that the difference in quality is “practically indistinguishable”, according to its customer tests. The company added 1.9 million customers during its second quarter, and now has more than 67 million subscribers. Sprint announced it’s removing data caps on the same day.
