The mobile carrier announced on Thursday that it will be going all-in on unlimited data starting in September with its new T-Mobile One plan.

The unlimited data isn’t really so unlimited, as so often seems to be the case, especially with T-Mobile’s One plan. The first line on the One plan will cost $70 a month, the second adds $50, and then all the rest add $20 each.
21, customers can choose the new Mobile Share Advantage plan and pay for extra data, if needed, or work with slower data speeds instead of paying for overages, the company said in a statement.
T-Mobile says that the top 3% of its subscribers who use more than 26GB of data per month may see their speeds throttled. Additional higher data plans are available. T-Mobile will give you 5GB of high-speed tethering, but you will need to spend $15 for it.
Under Binge On, launched last fall, T-Mobile has struck partnerships with more than 100 streaming services to exclude them from counting toward wireless subscribers’ data caps.
It’s a battle over unlimited data for Sprint and T-Mobile. Gaming is capped up to 2mbps and music streams will play at up to 500kbps.
In an email to CNNMoney, the company also accused T-Mobile of copying its strategy.
He also made clear that the unlimited focus was aimed at taking customers away from the largest wireless carriers Verizon and AT&T.
NEW YORK (AP) – AT&T is joining Verizon in raising the prices of some of its data plans. The prices are assuming you’re enrolled into T-Mobile’s auto-pay plan but if you’re not, expect to pay an addition $5 per line.
T-Mobile One will start at $70 for the first line. You can still enjoy the unlimited text and talk, sharable data, Rollover Data, mobile hotspot, and global texting.
The T-Mobile ONE plan represents a big shift in how wireless companies approach data. Well, you can turn it off to get higher-resolution video, but it will cost you $25 per line per month. When using a smartphone as a hotspot, the traffic is limited to 2G speeds.

In a related move, Sprint is making a few adjustments to its plans. Customers get a $10 discount if he or she opts for the TV/wireless data package.
