The Cumberland County Coroner’s office says Campbell died after striking the wall on the half-mile banked clay oval at Williams Grove Speedway.
The speedway canceled the rest of the program after the accident.
The multi-car accident occurred during warm-up laps.
On what had been promoted as “Kids Night”, many fans watched in shock as a medical helicopter was dispatched to the speedway, which is 20 minutes southeast of Harrisburg.
“The staff and management of Williams Grove Speedway express and extend honest sympathy to the Campbell family at this hard time”, the release said.
The Dillsburg Citizens’ Hose Company was standing by at the track on Friday.
Earlier this month, at the Susquehanna Speedway Park in Newberry Township, another race auto driver died at the track.

The death follows a year of heightened scrutiny on the dangers involved in motorsports racing after NASCAR star Tony Stewart struck and killed a fellow driver in sprint-car race in New York last August.
