Sprite Is The Best Cure For A Hangover Say Scientists
Now here is a piece of unexpected news, unexpected because no one in their right mind would imagine that it’s possible, but if scientists are saying this it must be true. Turns out, Sprite (the fizzy drink) is a better cure for a hangover than most other stuff. This was confirmed via a latest research, which also revealed that things like herbal tea and the like actually make matters worse rather than cure the hangover. About 57 drinks were tested by Chinese scientists and Sprite emerged the winner.

For those unaware, the nausea, headache and other discomfort that you experience as a part of a hangover is all thanks to your body trying to break down the alcohol that you might have consumed the previous night at a party. Basically, our body releases an enzyme called ADH (alcohol dehydrogenase) that helps break down the ethanol present in the alcohol into something called acetaldehyde. The process doesn’t stop here but gets even more interesting (or boring) depending on how keen you are to learn about what goes on inside your body.
The acetaldehyde is further broken down into something called acetate. You would be glad to know that it is this very chemical that has some health benefits. This particular process is carried out by ALDH which stands for aldehyde dehydrogenase. So now you know what goes on inside you, while you are suffering from a horrible hangover and simply don’t feel like getting out of bed. Now, if you want the alcohol to do as little damage as possible to your body, you have to ensure that the acetaldehyde is eliminated from your system as soon as possible.

This is exactly where Sprite comes in. In short this fizzy drink, it has been discovered, is the best agent to hasten the initial part of the alcohol break down, which is considered to be the negative part. On the other hand things like herbal tea etc are counterproductive and end up increasing the length of the initial process, which is the bad part and effectively shorten the second part of the process, which is the good part. Scientists are conducting further studies to confirm their findings and if nothing changes as far as the results of the findings are concerned, it would surely shock all those who love shouting about the benefits of herbal tea from rooftops.
