Spurious Liquor Kills 5 in Vijayawada
Five people died and 15 others were taken ill after consuming adulterated liquor here in Andhra Pradesh on Monday, police said.

The seven are undergoing treatment in a hospital here, where condition of one of them is stated to be critical, they said.
Though the bar was selling spurious liquor openly, excise officials failed to initiate any action against them and families of victims alleged that excise and police officials take regular bribes from this bar and allowed them to function despite selling spurious liquor in the name of prominent brands.
He said the government will act tough against those responsible for the tragedy and ensure that such incidents do not recur.
The deceased in the incident have been identified as Akula Vijaya Kumar, Narasa Gopi, Meesala Mahesh, Munagala Sankar Rao and NBBV Nancharaiah. The locals informed the police who immediately rushed the victims to a government hospital. However, officials have not confirmed the same.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who was on a visit to Vizianagaram district, spoke to Krishna District Collector Babu and directed him to shift all the victims to private hospitals for better treatment.
At least 25 daily workers, from the outskirts of Vijayawada, consumed liquor at the bar of a reputed hotel before heading out to work Monday morning.

“The incident is very unfortunate”. They raided the liquor shop and sent the samples for chemical examination.
