Spurrier Plays Comedian After Practice

Balanced attack. The Gamecocks’ youth at quarterback and wide receiver doesn’t have head coach Steve Spurrier thinking about focusing on the ground game, at least not yet. “These guys, I don’t know if we are going to be able to beat anybody this year”, said Spurrier, “Quarterbacks, they can’t hit the broad side of a barn right now”, and that was just the beginning.

– Spurrier on Pharoh Cooper: “If we had a game tomorrow, I’m sure he probably could play”.

Aside from Cooper there’s really nothing that makes you think, “Wow, this is a great team”.

If the observer sees something on the field when a player is struggling or appears physically unable to continue to compete, he or she can stop action and have the person removed for observation. Diggs noted the biggest difference in playing strong safety this season after working at Spur is that he needs to be more vocal. At Spur, I had the safety making the checks for me and telling me what I needed to do.

Spurrier thought Mitch had moved ahead of the others in the first week of camp.

“It’s pretty healed right now so I am just waiting to get cleared”, he said. Dixon is hopeful to be ready for the season opener against North Carolina on September 3. “I know the defense hands down”. Defensive backs, gosh I wonder why they got grass stains on their jerseys they fall about every play, about two or three of them are falling.
