A third successive league win moved Tottenham above north London rivals Arsenal into third, two points behind second-placed Manchester City and five adrift of Leicester. Spurs host Watford at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

“I am very pleased, it’s three points”, said Pochettino to Sky Sports after the victory.

“They certainly have a squad that is good enough to win it and they are easily one of the best teams we have played this season”.

“Kevin’s response was “yes it was my fault, it was my fault you’ve lost the game”, which isn’t the case, I just felt we didn’t get the fair decisions”, Neil added.

Kane doubled Spurs’ lead from the penalty spot before coolly finishing one-on-one late on and his brace took him to 18 goals for the season, 14 of which have come in the Premier League.

Piers Morgan has reluctantly admitted that it is a great time to be a Tottenham fan after Spurs leapfrogged Arsenal in the Premier League table.

Bamford, 22, was the Championship player of the year last season after scoring 17 goals on loan at Middlesbrough, beaten by Norwich in the play-off final.

“I think for me it is not important, the table at the moment is not important”, said Pochettino.

But Norwich, now with four league defeats in as many matches, remain two points above the relegation zone.

“But for now we have a way ahead of us – and a lot of games – and we need to be focused every day, improve in every training session, and try to win every game”.

Clever turns, outside-of-the-boot passes and constantly seeking to take players on, Kane showed off his flair as much as his talent for hard work in this fixture.

“I’ve watched the team a few times this season and they’ve been playing really well while creating a lot of chances”.

Neil was also unhappy with Kane’s second goal just before full-time, which came after Christian Eriksen dispossessed Martin Olsson. “It can only help us that we have more competition”. “He is young but produced a very good performance”.
