Spurs beat Man City 2-1, moves 2 points off EPL lead
Christian Eriksen marked his 24th birthday with a late goal as Tottenham Hotspur won 2-1 at Manchester City on Sunday to climb to within two points of the Premier League summit.

Mousa Dembele has revealed it is “a joy” to play for Tottenham after his side’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City this afternoon.
Clattenburg was in charge when City lost 4-1 at Tottenham in September when Pellegrini claimed two of the home side’s goals should have been disallowed for offside. It’s an unbelievable penalty that decides the game.
“It was absolutely the wrong decision (to award the penalty)”.
The combination of David Silva and Raheem Sterling looked City’s best bet to open up Tottenham’s back line, with Sergio Aguero, scorer of 10 goals in eight Premier League appearances against Tottenham, also constantly looking to exploit any gap. There were obvious controversial elements to this victory but the Spurs fans behind the goal hardly seemed to care and they can now sense the excitement of a genuine title chase.
Just nine minutes later after momentum had shifted to Manuel Pellegrini’s side and the Etihad Stadium getting louder with Iheanacho’s goal, silence would soon take over as Lamela would deliver a ideal through ball for Christian Eriksen who netted the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute.
“Psychologically for Leicester, even though their still top of the league…”
“The last two results we had here at home were very bad”.
With 12 games left, City is now dependent on three teams above it dropping points. Last week we had Leicester who had only lost once away from home this season and now we face a Spurs team who have the same record. It is very important for the future.
“We still have 36 points to play for and are only six points behind the leaders”.
“We are not going to give up, losing twice here against Leicester and Tottenham is too much but we have to continue working with the players. For that we feel very pleased for the players”, said manager Mauricio Pochettino.
“We are a young squad, we play against a team who have world champions, world-class players, it’s a lot of credit to our players”.
“The supporters are right to dream, it is one of the keys to the club”, said Pochettino. “Sometimes in football it happens, it goes for you and against you in the season”.

Those supporting Spurs in North London believe. I think it’s important for me to be calm, the way we have been from the start of the season is ideal and we need to carry on.
