Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino: Experience does not give Arsenal title advantage

City slipped up again at Liverpool on Wednesday – losing a third successive Barclays Premier League game for the first time since 2008 – to remain 10 points behind leaders Leicester.

The meeting will be the Wenger’s 48th North London derby in his 20th season at Arsenal and Pochettino believes the Frenchman has earned his longevity.

Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Manchester City make up the top four.

Tottenham’s high-pressing game has been a key feature of their performances this season, but Wenger said his side showed they can do the same when they faced Barcelona last month.

Spurs lost their grip on the Premier League crown after being beaten by a well-organised West Ham team on Wednesday, the defeat leaves Spurs three points behind Leicester in second place.

Theo Walcott has called on his Arsenal team-mates to put in the maximum effort as they prepare for Saturday’s crunch showdown with Tottenham at White Hart Lane. “We know and they know that it is a very exciting game and an important game because it means more than three points”.

The Serbian left-back said: “Maybe we have an advantage but the other clubs are doing so well, especially Leicester and Tottenham”. We’ve played a lot of games and, sometimes, it’s hard to keep the same level and be clinical or create the chances that we created against Swansea last Sunday.

“They defend well, they score goals up front, they’ve got a great goalkeeper”.

“I think work-rate [will be key]”, Walcott told Arsenal Player.

With Spurs enjoying an impressive campaign, their boss Mauricio Pochettino has had plenty of admirers and there have been reports suggesting major sides could look to lure the Argentinian away.

“We had a bad result; luckily everyone around us got beat so we didn’t lose too much ground”. “When we analysed the game in the morning we felt happier. It was only one game, our fourth defeat of the season”, added Pochettino.

Leicester picked up an impressive 26 points from the corresponding fixtures with their next ten opponents, with Manchester United and Southampton the only two teams who avoided defeat.
