Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich reflects on death of Craig Sager
American sports stars have paid tribute to commentating legend, Craig Sager, who’s died from leukaemia, aged 65. His fellow broadcasters donned their most garish suits in a show of solidarity, and the legendarily terse Spurs coach Gregg Popovich issued a rare mid-game address through the camera wishing Sager a speedy recovery.

On Dec. 13, Sager was inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame. “He embraced the opportunity to work a Finals game”.
The wide receiver revealed the customized cleats on his Instagram account today, acknowledging the sudden passing of beloved National Basketball Association sideline reporter Craig Sager.
On Thursday, Garnett celebrated Sager for his innovation and called him the “epitome” of his profession. In people who have the affliction, the body overproduce white blood cells that accumulate in bone marrow and hinder normal blood production. It wasn’t because the Suns were a lowly opponent not formidable enough to warrant actual game questions, or because the Spurs were exhausted from playing the second game of a back-to-back. After learning Sager had died, Popovich spoke somberly for almost two minutes before a game in Phoenix.
We should elevate Sager’s performance alongside LeBron’s when we look back on the 2016 Finals. He died on Thursday.
“The NBA lost a giant today, and I’ve lost a dear friend”, Rivers said in the statement. But in recent years, he gained attention for the colorful suits and jackets he wore on television. And it didn’t stop with these stories, they continued throughout the night. The reporters and coaches used words like abnormal, irritation, awkward, nuisance, and high-wire act to describe the exercise that the league and the networks have mandated.
Many of these people expressed their sadness after hearing of Sager’s death.
“I loved him very much”. “This keeps me going”.
“Man, life is too attractive, too wonderful, there’s just too many things”, he said in late August.
Sager was in Dallas for a game in April 2014 when he felt ill and sought treatment from Mavericks team physician Dr. Tarek Souryal, who had previously performed Sager’s knee surgery.
He said: “We considered a moment of silence but we thought it would be more appropriate to have a moment of joy, instead”.
When she walked around Quicken Loans Arena with Sager, it reminded Burke of entering an National Basketball Association building with Hubie Brown.
