Spurs in talks for N’Jie

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered talks with Lyon over the possible signing of 21-year-old Cameroon worldwide striker Clinton N’Jie after it has become clear that the club desperately needs more attacking options this season.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino also wants another out-and-out striker and a central midfielder before the transfer window shuts.

Lyon have not yet responded to the latest offer, with the report claiming they will not do so, as they have made Tottenham fully aware of their expectations.

The Cameroonian global had something of a breakthrough year last term and can play anywhere across the front-line.

Tottenham have also tracked Stuttgart forward Timo Werner all summer, but talks over N’Jie are now at a more advanced stage.

Tottenham were beaten 1-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford on the opening day of the season, despite arguably being the better of the two sides.

Tottenham have not given up on Berahino and hope that West Brom will drop their £25m asking price for the England under-21 global.

Should West Brom remain resolute in their determination to keep Berahino, then Spurs are also interested in West Ham target Javier Hernandez.

The Baggies have signed Rickie Lambert this summer and are also close to bringing in Salomon Rondon from Zenit St Petersburg, which has led to speculation that they are preparing for Berahino’s departure. Borussia Dortmund’s Sven Bender is the club’s first-choice target, with Cologne’s Kevin Vogt among the alternatives.
