Spurs’ Kawhi Leonard: Out for Saturday’s game versus Philadelphia

An upper respiratory infection will keep him out when San Antonio takes on the 76ers, according to the team’s official Twitter account. Philadelphia dropped its ninth straight to begin the season by falling 102-85 at Oklahoma City on Friday. San Antonio has won eight straight meetings dating back to February 11, 2011, and 10 in a row at home since a setback to the 76ers on January 3, 2004.

Philadelphia rookie center Jahlil Okafor had 21 points and 12 rebounds for his second double-double. Nerlens Noel had just six points after returning to action after missing two games with a wrist injury. Parker scored 16 points for the Spurs and forward Tim Duncan added 15.

The Spurs led by as many as 19 points, but could never put the 76ers away decisively. “We turned the ball over”.

Spurs: San Antonio played France’s National Anthem after a moment of silence before tipoff to honor the victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris. It is also interesting that the team’s biggest frontline star a year ago, LaMarcus Aldridge, is now playing in San Antonio.

ABOUT THE SPURS (6-2): San Antonio may be without leading scorer Kawhi Leonard (illness) and key reserve Manu Ginobili (adductor), and with the 76ers in town it may be a good time to get them a few extended rest.

Ginobili will miss his first game this season after suffering a strained abductor.

Leonard has started all nine games for the Blazers this season is averaging 8.4 points, 4.4 rebound, 1.7 assists and 26 minutes. The Spurs recalled F Jonathon Simmons from the Austin Spurs of the D-League.

76ers: At Dallas on Monday. “It’s just a weird feeling”.

“It’s a skill”, Popovich said. “It’s great timing. He’s got length”. He cares. He moves.
