Sriram joins Aussie coaching set-up

Australia have employed former India all-rounder Sridharan Sriram as a training advisor to assist with their troubles enjoying spin bowling within the leadup to their tour of Bangladesh. He wrote, “After a rollercoaster four months on the road with the Australian cricket team it’s nice to be back home having finished off with the one-day series trophy”. Sriram, who is an assistant coach with the IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils, had worked with the Australia A squad that toured India in July and August.

“A big part of my game, especially in Australian conditions, has been reverse swing”, Siddle told reporters.

“I’ve played global cricket for India and Im looking forward to sharing my experience and knowledge of subcontinental conditions with the squad”.

“In the long term, I see myself as somebody who may help the Australian batsmen turn into higher gamers of spin bowling and in addition assist spinners perceive the psyche and method of various batsmen and adapt to totally different circumstances”.

Smith was handed the captain’s armband after Clarke’s decision to retire from worldwide cricketing following Australia’s 3-2 Ashes defeat to England this summer. The Aussies swept Bangladesh 2-0 in their last tour in 2006 but have generally struggled on the slow Asian wickets.

Smith will be captaining Australia in Bangladesh after taking charge of leadership, as the two sides will clash in a two-Test series in October.

Sriram’s hire is not the first time Australia have used a foreign coaching consultant to try to help them exorcise their spin demons.
