This was the third time Khan has been detained at a US airport.

“The brighter side is while waiting caught some really nice Pokemons”, the 50-year-old actor said in another tweet, referring to the widely popular mobile game.

Khan’s latest detention generated so much negative feedback on social media that the U.S. Ambassador to India Rich Verma tweeted an apology to Khan, as did Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Nisha Biswal.

Biswal tried to reassure the actor that he wasn’t being singled out and that American diplomats are often questioned.

“Sorry for the hassle at the airport, @iamsrk – even American diplomats get pulled for extra screening!”

Verma posted: “Sorry for the trouble at LAX @iamsrk. Your work inspires millions, including in the USA”.

Pissed off by the recurring incidents on his United States visits, the actor tweeted about the time he had to spent during the process.

Khan was stopped by immigration officials at Newark Liberty International airport in New Jersey in 2009.

It’s not clear why Khan, who is Muslim, was detained or for how long.

USA customs and border protection authorities later expressed “profound” apologies. “The immigration guys kicked the star out of stardom”.

In 2012, Mr Khan was detained for 90 minutes at an airport near NY, and he later joked about it.

Khan tweeted back that he accepted the apology: “No trouble sir, respect the protocol & not expecting 2 b above it. Appreciate ur graciousness, its just inconvenient”. Thx for ur concern.
