That feeling was quickly reversed, as the Washington Redskins took it to the Rams and handed them their first loss of the season, 24-10.

Clearly, the Skins are a first-half team.
“There will be some games where maybe it won’t happen like that but our plan is to keep both backs fresh”, Gruden said.

From the time Redskins rookie Matt Jones arrived at Redskins Park in May, veteran running back Alfred Morris tried to make him comfortable. The touchdown was a four-yard pass from Cousins to Pierre Garcon, giving Washington the 17-0 lead.
With just under three minutes left in the game, Jones continued to dominate against a gassed Rams defense with a three-yard rushing touchdown.

He carried the ball 18 times for 59 yards, but Jones earned more of the yards in the second half as Washington put the game out of reach. On one hand, allowing 83 yards on 34 attempts shows good discipline and tackling in the running game. It’s not out of the question for him to start receiving 50 percent of the carries out of the backfield or even usurp the starting job if he continues to emerge as a big play threat.

Dustin Hopkins-who was signed to replace kicker Kai Forbath-saw his first regular season action with a 46-yard field goal. Cook would catch five of his seven targets for a total of 47 yards.
