At least five people were injured, some with critical stab wounds Sunday afternoon after a protest by white supremacists turned violent on the lawn of the California Capitol.

A group calling itself the “Traditionalist Workers Party” said it was leading the gathering.
The Sacramento Fire Department called the stabbings a “mass casualty event” and said that five people had been rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
The victims were all present while a protest took place, but McPhail said it was still unclear whether and how they were involved.
The Traditionalist Working Party held a permitted rally at the Capitol. Likewise, the Traditionalist Worker Party website argues how “a bright white line must be drawn around the sanctity of innocent human life”.
Video footage from the scene posted on social media showed masked counter-protesters clad in black wielding large wooden sticks and other makeshift weapons.
The Los Angeles Times newspaper reported that a neo-Nazi group had planned a rally at the site, and that there were protests planned against the group. Our mission is defending faith, family, and folk against the politicians and oligarchs who are running America into the ground.

The group aims to elect candidates in local elections to “to raise money and generate publicity for their racist positions.” according to SPLC.
