Staff predictions: St. Louis Rams vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

In a game no one wanted to see in colors no one can stand to look at, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-7) travel to St. Louis to take on the Rams (5-8) because that’s where they are for the time being.

Keenum completed 14 of 17 passes as the Rams (6-8), who are one of three franchises angling to move to Los Angeles, gave the announced crowd of 51,295 plenty of excuses to wave the gold towels that matched the team’s all-gold uniforms.

“There’s no telling what will happen, but the fans today were incredible”, Rams quarterback Case Keenum said. They didn’t. I thought the Rams, on a five-game losing streak, would continue its slide and lose to the Lions.

The St. Louis Rams started out strong and then held off a late Tampa Bay Buccaneers rally to record their second straight win.

Austin scored after a 21-yard run on a reverse with 5:35 left in the third quarter for a 28-6 lead.

St. Louis running back Todd Gurley runs in a touchdown from 3-yards out to give the Rams a 21-3 lead over Tampa Bay with 2:09 remaining in the first half. Winston is the third rookie quarterback in league history to eclipse the 3,000-yard mark. Mariota has thrown more touchdowns (19) than Winston and fewer interceptions (10), but he has fumbled nine times and his Tennessee Titans are a pitiful 3-10.

Seferian-Jenkins’ 9-yard scoring catch with 1:34 left drew Tampa Bay within a possession, but linebacker Bryce Hager fell on an onside kick to seal the verdict. “We’re going to come in and play our game and handle our business”. Aaron Donald burnished his Defensive Player of the Year credentials with a disruptive game.

“The game started off fast for us, which was good”, Rams coach Jeff Fisher said. “I’m not very good at things I can’t control, I’ve struggled with that my whole life, and this is one of those things”.

The team then moved quickly to right the ship, ending the Foles experiment by naming game-managing Case Keenum the new starter and vowing to get the ball into the hands of their best playmaker, Gurley. “We’ll get a ton of people teasing this game”, he says.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on-the-road to face the St. Louis Rams, live at 1:25 GMT. If I were building my team for the future I’d take QB Jameis Winston, however for tonight I want RB Todd Gurley on my team. He has improved tremendously in the run game and has shown more confidence and better burst in year two.

The Cowboys defense was gashed last week by the Packers, who racked up 230 rushing yards, and Jets running back Chris Ivory, who needs 86 yards to get to 1,000 on the season, is coming off a 101-yard rushing effort against the Titans.

It’s hard to put a finger on how these teams will play given the inconsistency they’ve shown throughout the season.

Although the Buccaneers’ offense failed to score a touchdown in the first half, there was a significant milestone reached. “Getting the momentum like that and defense making a couple big stops and forcing them to make field goals was huge”. Neither of these NFC teams are expected to make the playoffs as the Bucs are two games back of the Wild Card with three to play, but there are some great rookies taking the field.
