The show will add to Disney’s already robust Broadway repertoire, which includes “Aladdin” and “The Lion King“.

It will be directed by Alex Timbers (attached to the project in some reports last year), whose stage credits include Peter and the Starcatcher and Here Lies Love, with choreography by Peter Darling, known for Billy Elliott and Matilda The Musical.
The winter themed film has reportedly earned Disney an impressive $1.27billion worldwide and its signature song Let It Go even won an Oscar so it’s no wonder it’s taking to the stage.
The movie tells the story of two siblings – Elsa, who harbors the power to create ice and snow, and her sister, Anna.
As previously announced, Frozen will feature music and lyrics by creators of the film score Kristen Anderson-Lopez (In Transit, Up Here) and Robert Lopez (Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon, Up Here) and a book by Jennifer Lee (Wreck-It Ralph), the film’s screenwriter and director (with Chris Buck).
Casting and the Broadway theatre will be announced at a later date.
Sets and costumes will be designed by Bob Crowley; lighting’s by Natasha Katz sound by Peter Hylenski. The music supervisor will be Stephen Oremus (Avenue Q, Wicked, Book of Mormon).

The live musical version of the most successful animated movie of all time will hit Broadway in spring 2018, but first it will play a pre-Broadway engagement in a city to be announced in summer 2017.
