Stan Lee’s Biopic Will Be a ’70s Period Piece
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox has acquired Lee’s life rights in order to make what they’re calling “a period action adventure movie”.

The project is being produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, whose work includes “Twilight”, “The Maze Runner” and upcoming reboot “Power Rangers”. I’m wondering if it will be positioned as a Shakespear In Love-style story with Lee getting inspiration for the famous comic book heroes he created from his fantastic adventures. Lee has also appeared as himself in some feature films and TV shows including Mallrats and Entourage. The reality is that while he did indeed co-create icons like Spider-Man, the X-Men, The Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, their supporting casts and many others, those characters wouldn’t exist were it not for the input of collaborators like Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, neither of whom are the household names that Stan Lee has become, although they very much should be. Stan Lee is going to be an action hero. What would you title it? Said main character is described as being like Roger Moore’s Bond by the site, and given that sources told THR that the movie would share its tone with something like Kingsman: The Secret Service, it sounds like film would essentially be a sort of parody spoof/homage to the classic Bond movies of the ’70s.
Stan began working for Marvel Comics, known as Timely at the time, in 1939. In addition to being a creator and editor, Lee served as a great salesperson and frontman for the Marvel company. Actually, give Ryan Gosling a thick mustache and some big sunglasses, and he’d be the spitting image of a 50-year-old Stan Lee.
Marvel superhero legend Stan Lee’s impact on pop culture – from comic book pages to screens big and small – is immeasurable.
Of course, making a movie that turns Lee into a super-anything will nearly certainly court a very vocal backlash from diehard comics fans.
