The truth of the matter is that Notre Dame suffered an enormous amount of injuries this year and the backups played well. Notre Dame will await its bowl bid, but the Irish’s hopes of making the playoff are gone after being dealt their second loss.

As it turns out, despite the ominous feeling presiding over the stadium, the Cardinal weren’t ready to concede their faint playoff hopes. “I think he is one of the best players in America”.

Though both teams would have two losses, the Cardinal’s conference title (assuming they beat USC in Santa Clara next week) would likely put them ahead of the Crimson Tide.
