Stanford picked to win Pac-12, Huskies picked second in the North
For the first time in more than 50 years, the Stanford Cardinal football program is the preseason favorite to bring home the Pac-12 title.

“Hard to imagine that’s the first time in the history of the Pac-12 that Stanford has gotten that respect from the media”, he said during his morning address at Pac-12 media day.
In the South division, UCLA received 19 first place votes, USC got 12 votes and Utah had two votes.
The Trojans, however, received five votes to win the Pac-12 championship game while the Bruins only received three. Other schools receiving votes to win the title game were USC (5), Washington (4), UCLA (3) and Utah (1). The Ducks were slotted third in the North behind Stanford and Washington, and received just one first-place vote. Texas Tech, West Virginia, Kansas State, Iowa State and Kansas rounded out the poll.
The event will also shown live on the Pac-12 Networks both days. “Defendants Stanford, Pac-12, and the NCAA have kept their players and the public in the dark about an epidemic that was slowly killing their athletes”.
Mayfield was the Big 12’s offensive player of the year last season, and has been tabbed as the preseason offensive player of the year. UCLA is chosen to win the Pac-12 South barely over USC. He threw for 3,700 yards and 36 touchdowns last season. Utah was third with two first-place votes.
Solomon, however, is part of a two-man quarterback competition that will continue at Arizona when fall camp begins next month – one of eight QB battles around the league.
Following a relatively tame October slate featuring ASU, Colorado, Arizona and Cal, USC will have to survive a November stretch featuring Oregon, Washington and UCLA before capping off the season out of conference against Notre Dame.
