His day with the Stanley Cup was a family affair, with his sister Amanda Kessel (also a hockey player) drinking from the Stanley Cup. Phil Kessel’s grandma is what we should all hope to be when we grow up.

It doesn’t matter what age you are, if you get the chance to drink from the Stanley Cup, you do it. Kessel’s family appropriately cheered her on after the feat.
Now, Kessel has chose to share his championship joy with, who else, “Granny Kessel!”

Just days ago, Phil Kessel showed his character by taking the Cup to Toronto Children’s Hospital, and visiting with sick children. For Pittsburgh Penguins forward Phil Kessel, he can add a particularly meaningful moment to the list of things he did with the Stanley Cup. He’ll look to help the Penguins repeat as champions next season and maybe even give Granny Kessel a second round of champagne from Lord Stanley’s cup.
