Star Trek 4 Will Feature JJ Abrams’ Favorite Story
2 – What is the Starship Enterprise?

Personally, I’m eager to see them all again. In one particularly lovely moment, Kirk confesses to his Captain’s Log that things have begun to feel “episodic” for him of late (a reference to Kirk and his crew now being neck-deep in the era of The Original Series when the show was, in fact, literally episodic).
It’s been some time since the USS Enterprise has returned to earth and the crew of the magnificent craft are ready to take another trip into the vast outer regions of space.
4 – Why does Spock talk like that? The Vulcans are a humanoid species that focuses mainly on logic and reason.
2016 has been a time of conflict in many ways – the presidential race sees the United States divided, rising tensions in the UK lead to Brexit, there’s police brutality vs Black Lives Matter, and then of course the events in Orlando are fresh in everyone’s minds. Last year, the final Hunger Games sequel was reworked to minimize the role of Plutarch Heavensbee, the supporting character played by Philip Seymour Hoffman, who died in February 2014.
Are you glad that the cast and crew of Star Trek Beyond held a moment of silence for Anton, HollywoodLifers?
The third film in the rebooted Trek franchise and Beyond picks up three years into the crew’s five year mission to explore space and Chris Pine’s James T. Kirk narrates us through the emotional turmoil swirling among the crew. This iteration of Kirk is still cocky and brash, but comes from a troubled past and is still learning about life.
There are moments where the comedic genius of Simon Pegg, and the comic timing of the wonderful cast elicit genuine laughs. Yet writers Simon Pegg and Doug Jung, along with director Justin Lin, managed to strike the ideal balance of all of Trek’s elements, while staying true to Roddenberry’s vision in the best way. Finally, she praises John Cho, who plays Hikaru Sulu, for being an “out and proud” gay character. Zachary Quinto as Spock and Karl Urban as Bones still have the best dynamic, but the odd couple routine is here because it has to be, not out of a natural outgrowth of plot or circumstance. But unlike the previous film, 2013’s bloated “Star Trek Into Darkness”, not everything is quite so much of a life-and-death issue (the exhausting de facto pitch of today’s summer blockbuster). He’s even scary looking, with a crocodile-like face and quotes like “This is where the frontier pushes back!”
Much more amusing is a can-do alien named Jaylah, engagingly played under kabuki-style makeup by Sofia Boutella, soon to play the title character in “The Mummy” opposite Tom Cruise.
8 – Is this supposed to be in the future?
Yes. This movie takes place in the mid-23rd century.
Or maybe it’s just too big a number. Kirk has now outlived his father by one year, and he is constantly wrestling with ghosts, his own mortality and his sense of goal, all of which he expresses through anguished looks that rest just beneath his cocky veneer.
Perhaps I’m not the one who ought to write a brief comment on this new Beyond continuance.
