Star Trek Actor Anton Yelchin Killed in Car Crash

The 27-year-old, who played Pavel Chekov in the science fiction film, was killed by his own vehicle at his home in Los Angeles. He was pronounced dead at the scene 1:10 am Sunday morning. “It appeared he had momentarily exited his auto leaving it in the driveway”. Authorities say Yelchin had “momentarily left his auto”, when it trapped him. And when he didn’t show up, his friends went to his house, where they found him deceased by his vehicle.

Born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Yelchin and his family moved to the U.S. in 1989. His mother worked as a figure skating choreographer and his father as a figure skating coach. In addition to returning next month as Chekov in Star Trek Beyond, he also had the dramatic features We Don’t Belong Here and Porto wrapped up.

Family and friends have been notified.

“Anton Yelchin was one of my best friends”.

“I loved Anton Yelchin so much”, wrote John Cho, who played fellow Enterprise crew member Sulu in the new “Star Trek” films.

He drew on his Russian roots for his role as the heavily accented navigator Chekov in the Star Trek films, his most high-profile to date. He went on to describe the actor as a great friend, as well as a great son. He was amusing, edgy, wild and talented beyond measure. Following the devastating announcement, Paramount Pictures released a statement of its own, reading, “All of us at Paramount join the world in morning the untimely passing of Antony Yelchin. Such a huge loss”, Kendrick said on Twitter. He starred opposite Felicity Jones.

Like Crazy, which won grand jury prize at Sundance and expanded into more theaters in 2011, is one of the most authentic ever made about long-distance relationships.
