Star Trek Beyond Movie Review
Kirk (Chris Pine) in awaiting a promotion, Spock (Zachary Quinto) is mulling a return home to Vulcan, and Bones (Karl Urban), good God, man, he has some fun needling Spock about a botched romance with Uhura (Zoe Saldana). Well that’s just typical! But Chekov is a very important and memorable character, who was made by Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry.

Three years into the Enterprise’s five-year mission into deep space, its crew has come together like family.
In Star Trek Beyond, the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.
But surprisingly, Star Trek Beyond is everything that 2013’s messy Star Trek Into Darkness wasn’t – an entertaining and wholesome movie.
Star Trek Beyond is out now.
This year being the 50th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise, it seems somewhat appropriate that Star Trek Beyond would be the showpiece of the anniversary celebrations.
Perhaps the issue lies in the script, with writers Simon Pegg and Doug Jung halting character development. A supposed rescue mission turns out to be a ruse masterminded by the villainous Krall (Idris Elba, behind tons of makeup) to obtain an ancient artifact the Enterprise is carrying, which he plans to use to build a doomsday device. It pumps optimism into the future of “Star Trek” films and builds upon a beloved team of characters.
Simon Pegg, who’s co-written the screenplay, beefs up his own role as the scrappy tech-wiz Scotty, and the crew finds an unexpected ally in the form of a stripe-faced alien named Jaylah (Sofia Boutella) who’s nursing a grudge against the nemesis they must vanquish. Lin directed four movies in the “Fast and the Furious” franchise. He plays U.S.S. Enterprise Chief Engineer Scotty and in Star Trek Beyond, he has shown more airtime than in previous Star Trek films. Justin Lin’s film is actually quite a cheery affair-there’s little philosophical hand-wringing, and whenever things get emotional there’s always McCoy (Karl Urban) on hand with a dry remark.

Here’s eight ups and only two downs from Star Trek Beyond. That may effect some of my credibility for a few of the Trekkies and Trekkers out there or at least give an understanding of my taste within the STAR TREK universe.
